Life after Lockyer dawns on Kangaroos

When Australian players viewed a video of Darren Lockyer’s career highlights before leaving their Leeds hotel for the Four Nations final at Elland Road, they would have realised just how hard he is going to be to replace.

Lockyer’s role in helping the Kangaroos to a 30-8 win, after the scores had been level at 8-8 midway through the second half, was another reminder.

”They are big shoes to fill so hopefully that will be Cooper Cronk’s job, not mine,” Johnathan Thurston joked after the match.

Australia proved to be England’s tormentors once again with a stirring display to win the 2011 Four Nations title at Elland Road.

The victory gave Kangaroos captain Darren Lockyer, who scored the final try of the game in his last match, a fitting career finale.

Sam Thaiday’s early try was cancelled out just before the break by Ryan Hall.

But Australia upped their game in the second half with Jharal Yow Yeh, Greg Inglis and Johnathan Thurston crossing….

As you may notice, there has been a change to the site… the url has changed slightly, the layout has changed, AND I’ve gone to being a full information/fan site instead of just photos.
